About Us

 Camp Allegro Wichita is a music day camp for youth ages 7 to 18.  We offer all levels of instruction, beginning through advanced, on all string and band instruments as well as voice, guitar, organ and piano.  Classes include chamber music, small ensembles, orchestra, band, jazz band, choir, masterclasses, blues, jazz improv, fiddling, ukulele, music theory, art and photography.

We have 2 divisions:

Camp Allegro for youth ages 7 and above  Beginning and intermediate level musicians as well as campers who have never played an instrument receive instruction on all musical instruments. Campers perform in small and large ensemble concerts as well as take additional elective classes such as art, ukulele, photography, fiddling, blues, chimes, and more!

Camp Musica is for our advanced campers (high school and advanced middle school students) with more emphasis on chamber music.  Musica campers perform in chamber groups and large ensembles, receive private lessons, play in masterclasses, and participate in classes on specialized music topics.

Camp Allegro is hosted by Friends University. Camp will be held on the university campus.

Our camp faculty are professional musicians who teach privately and in schools as well as perform with the Wichita Symphony, Music Theater Wichita, Wichita Chamber Chorale, Wichita Grand Opera, Delano Chamber Orchestra, and other arts organizations.

Our camp days are 9 - 5 with concerts on Thursday and Friday evenings.  Camp Musica musicians have additional opportunities to perform.  ALL campers perform in our concerts--be sure to check our brochure for important details!

The mission of Camp Allegro Wichita is to offer a unique opportunity for youth to explore and perform diverse forms of music in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere. We are committed to engaging excellent teachers who are passionate about bringing music to students of all backgrounds and abilities, including those who don't play an instrument but wish they did. Camp Allegro Wichita is a music day camp open to ALL youth, ages 7 through 18. We are approaching our  13th anniversary camp season and have expanded our musical offerings. We hold masterclasses, workshops and performance opportunities throughout the year as well as one-week camp sessions each June (with extended dates for advanced musicians).
